The Thousandth Time

I've just come back from prayer at church. Purity was what i prayed for. That all of us will learn to purify ourselves and inturn raise a generation of youths, and adults that will seek to lead pure and holy lives for God.
Purity and Holiness. These words sounded so far, so unreachable...meant for pastors and their families, when i was young. Little did i know they stood so near by and ENTIRELY within reach.
One thing i struggled so much with was the fact that if Jesus died for our sins, and conquered them, why was i still sinning, why were sins still in my life? Weren't they conquered? weren't they supposed to run hiding back to their master?
And what i understand now is that, Jesus payed our debt, he bought us with his blood. But, as much as the price for our sin has been paid, sin is still very much in us, in our physical bodies. God gave us the entire world to rule when Adam and Eve sinned, sin entered this physical world. We loosed it.

It didn't occur to me that i had the power of Jesus within me to flee - not fight. That it was up to me to cleanse myself of these things. I had to decide to do it, and enforce it - that is part of my worship of him = for obedience is better than sacrifice. So , a life of purity and set apartness, that is a choice too. and the fact that it is attainable...the illustration of a life of purity and set apartness - isn't something that is emphasized to the youth. There's all this emphasis on boy-girl relationships, sexual immorality, drugs, pornography...be we forget to paint the picture of purity, or holiness. That it's dwelling in God's temple, sheltered by the wings of angels. Its hearing his still small voice constantly, telling you how best to lead your life - the security and satisfaction it brings. the fact that this life of purity and holiness, that that life will give you the desires of your heart. And a pure heart - is a promise to SEE God.

So many don'ts...not enough Do's.

In the prayer chapel, i didn't know what to do...i kept slipping into christian jargon... complicated words like supplication, sanctification, justification... and i found myself talking in circles. i was confused. its funny how i feel the need to use complicated words... eventually, i just told my brain to shut up and for my heart to talk. and it did. in simple words and baby english. but it was powerful, and my God was there. He listened to every word and told me - yes. So, its time for me to excercise the faith that God has increased through my operation :)
